Kuwait Energy Basra (UEGL), the subsidiary of the Hong Kong-listed United Energy Group responsible for operations in Iraq, has allegedly been compromised. A threat actor is offering a massive 100GB archive described as the “internal operational archive” for the Faihaa oil field in Block 9, Basra Province. The dataset, which covers operations from 2015 through 2025, reportedly contains critical technical data extracted directly from the company’s internal servers. The seller is demanding 0.7 Bitcoin for the complete package, emphasizing the strategic value of the data for regional competitors or state actors.
According to the actor, the compromised data includes over 20,000 files enabling complete reverse engineering of the reservoir. The allegedly compromised data includes:
-
Daily geological reports (October 2022 to November 2025)
-
Complete wireline logs (DLIS, LAS, PDF)
-
Petrophysical evaluation reports (Archie parameters, J-function, etc.)
-
Reservoir models and FMI images
-
Schlumberger tool calibration data (serial numbers, polynomial coefficients)
-
Precise rig coordinates and well trajectories
-
Real-time drilling progress and mud properties
-
Hundreds of unencrypted PDF reports
