Alleged Cyber Breach: Hatari Electric Co., Thailand’s Largest Appliances Firm, Targeted by GHOSTR, Exposing 617.3GB Data

Thailand’s largest electrical appliances company, Hatari Electric Co., Ltd (Hatari.co.th), has allegedly fallen victim to a hacking incident orchestrated by a threat actor known as GHOSTR. The breach, which reportedly occurred on March 19th, 2024, has raised concerns about the security of sensitive data belonging to one of the country’s leading firms.

According to the claims made by the threat actor, GHOSTR, a staggering 617.3 gigabytes of data spread across 18 databases were illicitly obtained during the breach. Among the compromised databases are critical corporate records, accounting information, human resources files, employee details, sales data, supplier listings, as well as partner and customer information. Notably, Joon Wanavit, the founder of Hatari Electric and one of Thailand’s wealthiest individuals, has been impacted by this breach.

GHOSTR has announced intentions to sell the complete set of stolen MSSQL databases, totaling 617.3 gigabytes in size. The threat actor explicitly states that they will not offer individual datasets for sale, underscoring the comprehensive nature of the breach. The databases are said to be in MSSQL .BAK file format, with a compressed download size of 110.63 gigabytes, adding to the gravity of the situation.
