The Akira ransomware group claims to have breached Cascade Pacific Pulp LLC, a leading market pulp mill located in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. The company is known for its environmentally progressive practices and produces over 200,000 tons of high-grade pulp annually, which is used in products such as tissue and printing papers.
According to the actor, more than 146GB of data was compromised. The allegedly exfiltrated data includes a wide range of sensitive corporate and personal information:
- Financial data (audits, payment details, financial reports, invoices)
- Employee and customer information (passports, driver’s licenses, Social Security Numbers)
- Death certificates
- Emails and phone numbers
- Confidential information and Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)
- Other documents containing detailed personal information
