Threat actor under the moniker “CyberVolk” claims to have compromised the entire database of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and is now demanding a payment of $2 million in Bitcoin to prevent the public release of sensitive data.
The alleged breach was announced on CyberVolk’s Telegram channel, where the group stated that it had gained full access to the USGS’s data. According to the post, the group plans to leak 10% of the stolen information soon as proof of the hack. The rest of the database would be sold unless their demands are met.
