Finnish Technology Giant Exel Composites Allegedly Breached by World Leaks Ransomware Group

The ransomware group known as World Leaks has allegedly breached Exel Composites, a prominent Finnish technology company. Exel Composites is a globally recognized leader in pultrusion and pull-winding technology, manufacturing advanced composite solutions for a wide range of industries, including aerospace, defense, and telecommunications. The company, which is publicly traded with a revenue of over $103 million, is a critical supplier of lightweight and durable composite products worldwide.

The threat actor has published a significant amount of data allegedly exfiltrated from the company’s network. The leaked files appear to contain highly sensitive corporate and personal information, indicating a deep compromise of the firm’s systems. The exposure of such data could pose a severe threat to Exel Composites’ intellectual property, competitive standing, and regulatory compliance, especially given the presence of defense-related materials.

The allegedly leaked data includes a wide array of sensitive files, categorized by the attackers as follows:

  • Formulations
  • ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations)
  • Aerospace
  • Drawings
  • R&D Project
  • Technical Dept – Project
  • Competitors
  • Cash Flow Forecast
  • Confidential
  • CEO, CFO files, including personal identification documents
