CNH Industrial, a world leader in agricultural and construction equipment, has allegedly become the latest victim of a significant ransomware attack. The Italian-American multinational corporation, with global headquarters in the United Kingdom, is a powerhouse in the industrial sector, reporting revenues of $18 billion. The company designs, produces, and sells essential machinery under well-known brands such as Case IH and New Holland, playing a critical role in global food production and infrastructure development. A notorious ransomware group has claimed responsibility for the attack, asserting they have exfiltrated a massive trove of sensitive data.
The cybercriminal actors behind the incident have alleged the theft of 2 terabytes of data from CNH Industrial’s servers. Screenshots shared as proof of the breach reveal a directory structure containing highly sensitive corporate information. The leak appears to include confidential engineering documents, software development data, and internal reports. The attackers have threatened to release this information if their ransom demands are not met. The potential exposure of such critical data could have severe consequences for CNH Industrial, including the loss of valuable intellectual property and operational disruptions.
Among the allegedly compromised files are:
- Engineering specifications and software development bundles
- Confidential corporate documents
- Internal “How-tos” and introductory guides
- Software test suite reports and data
