A threat actor has posted on a dark web forum allegedly selling network access to a major telecommunications company based in Hong Kong. While the specific company was not named, the actor described it as a significant entity with a revenue of over $200 million USD. Hong Kong’s telecommunications sector is a vital part of its infrastructure, supporting international business and daily communications for millions of residents, making any potential breach a serious concern.
According to the forum post, the seller is offering root level access to one of the company’s Linux systems. This level of administrative privilege is the highest possible and would grant a buyer complete control over the compromised machine. Such access could be leveraged to steal sensitive customer or corporate data, disrupt services, or serve as a pivot point to launch further attacks within the company’s network. The access is being sold for $1,300 in cryptocurrency, with the price listed as negotiable.
