The Chaos ransomware group has claimed responsibility for a cyber attack against Metropolitan Adjustment Bureau, a public insurance adjusting firm based in California. The company has over 50 years of experience assisting homeowners and businesses with insurance claims related to fire, water, earthquake, and disaster damage.
The breach was announced on the threat actor’s data leak site, where they added the firm to their list of victims.
According to the actor, a significant amount of data was exfiltrated during the attack. The post claims the compromise of 1100 Gb (1.1 TB) of company data. At this time, the specific types of data included in the leak have not been detailed by the group.
