Qilin Ransomware Group Allegedly Breaches US Contractor Weathercraft Companies

The Qilin ransomware group has allegedly targeted Weathercraft Companies, a prominent US-based contractor. The group has published a trove of data allegedly stolen from the company’s systems, signaling a significant security breach. Weathercraft Companies, founded in 1976 in North Platte, Nebraska, is an established contractor specializing in roofing, siding, gutters, windows, and overhead door installation across several locations in the United States. The company is an important regional service provider and holds affiliations with other major entities like Overhead Door Co., Duff Roofing, and High Plains Roofing.

The data leak, posted on the ransomware group’s dark web portal, appears to contain a wide range of sensitive corporate and personal information. The exposure of such confidential data could pose a serious risk to the company, its employees, and its customers. The allegedly leaked files suggest a deep compromise of the contractor’s internal network.

Some of the compromised data allegedly includes:

  • Payroll documents containing employee names and wage information
  • Customer proposals and job records
  • Company invoices and detailed financial spreadsheets
  • Workers’ compensation and insurance policy documents
