RipperSec and NoName057 Launch DDoS Attacks on Taiwanese Government Sites

RipperSec and NoName057(16), two hacker groups, have claimed responsibility for a series of coordinated DDoS attacks targeting Taiwanese government websites. In a statement, RipperSec warned Taiwan over its alleged actions, including its stance towards China and its relationship with Israel. The group announced its participation in “Operation #OpsTaiwan,” joining NoName057(16) in launching attacks as a warning to Taiwan.

RipperSec stated that they would escalate their attacks to target critical Taiwanese infrastructure, such as banks, if Taiwan does not show any signs of peaceful actions in response to their warnings.

NoName057(16) also continues to attack Taiwan’s online infrastructure as part of their campaign. The following government websites have been listed as targets of the ongoing DDoS attacks:

  • Shinzhu County Government Tax Administration (check-host.net report)
  • Local Tax Administration of the Government of Taichung (check-host.net report)
  • Changhua County Local Tax Administration (check-host.net report)
  • Yunlin County Tax Office (check-host.net report)
  • Kaohsiung City Tax Collection Office (check-host.net report)
  • Taitung County Tax Office (check-host.net report)
  • Bureau of Finance and Taxation of the Government of Liangjiang County (check-host.net report)
  • Department of Finance’s electronic declaration and tax service (check-host.net report)

These DDoS attacks have caused disruptions to several government tax administration websites across various counties in Taiwan. The full extent of the impact remains unclear, and there has been no official response from the affected Taiwanese entities.

These claims by RipperSec and NoName057(16) have not been independently verified and remain as allegations made by the groups involved.
