In a recent announcement, the notorious group SixtySixSlavs claims to have breached the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC), a facility owned and funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. Alongside this breach, they also mention targeting a lesser-known Indonesian entity, specifically the website of iainkediri.ac.id. Expressing their disdain for the U.S. government, the group has declared their intention to leak the data from the Indonesian site while offering the NERSC database for sale at $10,000, payable via Bitcoin or Monero.
Included in their announcement are details of the compromised NERSC database, with a list of exported tables provided in an attachment named “all_db_tables.txt.” Additionally, screenshots showing taxdump names are included to underscore the seriousness of the breach. Despite the lack of specific motivation regarding the Indonesian site, they offer its data as well.
This announcement signals a significant breach with potential far-reaching consequences, particularly given NERSC’s affiliation with the U.S. Department of Energy.
