The prominent Spanish technology news and forum website, ADSLZone, has allegedly been targeted in a defacement attack. A group identifying as “@gov.eth” claimed responsibility for the incident, altering the website’s homepage to display politically charged messages. ADSLZone is a major online publication in Spain, providing news and tutorials on internet services, mobile telephony, software, and technology to a large readership, making this public-facing attack particularly significant.
The attackers replaced several articles on the main page with their own banner, which included slogans critical of the current Spanish government. The nature of the defacement appears to be a form of hacktivism, aiming to broadcast a political message rather than to steal data or cause long-term damage to the site’s infrastructure. There has been no mention or evidence of a data breach accompanying the defacement, and the impact seems confined to the temporary alteration of the website’s content.
The messages displayed by the attackers included:
- HACKED BY @GOV.ETH
- #SanchezCorrupto
- #SanchezDimiteYa
- A link to a Telegram channel
ADSLZone was actively working to restore its website to its normal state. The incident highlights the vulnerability of high-traffic media outlets to politically motivated cyber-attacks, where the primary goal is public disruption and message propagation.
