In a recent announcement, the Stormous ransomware group clarified that their operations have not been suspended, but are undergoing several significant adjustments. Key among these is the update of their ransomware program, StmX/GhostLocker, to version 4. This new version promises enhanced features for their associates, whether they are members of the group or not.
The group has also revealed a shift in their service model. Their ransomware services will now be offered for free under certain conditions, while other conditions will incur a fee. Details on these conditions will be communicated to users upon the program’s launch.
Additionally, the group mentioned that their blog is being updated. As part of this update, all companies and data that were not leaked during their inactive period will be released for free once the blog is relaunched. However, companies that have paid for decryption services will have their data removed from the group’s storage list.
Stormous also announced that their partners at GhostSec, who are affiliated with the GhostLocker program, will be seamlessly reintegrated into the new version of the software.
