Threat Actor Claims to Sell Customer Database of Neiman Marcus

A threat actor has allegedly claimed responsibility for a data breach at Neiman Marcus, a luxury retail chain, and has issued an ultimatum to the company. The group alleges that they have access to the personal data of 40 million customers, including high-profile individuals and celebrities.

In their statement, the hackers claim Neiman Marcus initially downplayed the breach, stating only 60,000 people were affected. The group asserts that they gave Neiman Marcus an opportunity to buy back the data, but the company did not respond adequately. Now, they are demanding $1 million to prevent the sale or release of the stolen information.

The hackers provided samples of the compromised data, including names, emails, phone numbers, credit card information, and addresses. They highlighted the presence of celebrities and politicians in the database to emphasize the importance of the breach. For instance, they mentioned details about President Bill Clinton’s purchase in Honolulu in April 2023, including partial credit card information. Other notable figures mentioned include Jennifer Lopez, Megan Fox, and Courtney Cox.

The hackers issued a stern warning to Neiman Marcus, stating, “Do the right thing and we will keep your data safe”. They also hinted at future leaks, promising to reveal celebrity and politician auto records, credit histories, and other sensitive information if their demands are not met.

This claim raises serious concerns about the security measures in place at Neiman Marcus and the potential impact on its customers. The company has yet to issue an official response to these allegations.
