In a concerning development, a threat actor has purportedly announced the sale of a comprehensive database encompassing the personal information of iPhone iOS and Huawei mobile phone users across China. Allegedly sourced from major Chinese telecom giants like China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom, the dataset comprises crucial details such as mobile numbers, full names, provinces, cities, mobile carriers, birth years, and genders. With a staggering 62,581,234 records for iPhone iOS users and 13,788,213 records for Huawei users, the threat actor has packaged these datasets into zip files, each containing multiple comma-delimited text files.
The price tags attached are significant, with the iPhone dataset listed at $6200 and the Huawei dataset at $1300. Payment options are versatile, including various cryptocurrencies accepted via Escrow, ensuring a degree of anonymity in transactions. To mitigate potential risks, the threat actor has imposed a limit of three buyers per database, indicating a strategy to minimize exposure and maintain control over the dissemination of this sensitive information.
