The Akira ransomware group has allegedly added three new companies from Canada and the United States to its dark web leak site. The group claims to have successfully breached the networks of these organizations and exfiltrated a significant amount of sensitive data. The victims are listed as:
- π¨π¦ Baycoat: The largest steel coil coater in Canada, employing approximately 175 people.
- πΊπΈ Ben’s Asphalt: A Southern California-based asphalt maintenance and parking lot management company founded in 1961 with a national presence.
- πΊπΈ Echo: An industry leader in the design, marketing, and distribution of home and fashion accessories since 1923.
The threat actors have threatened to release the stolen data if their ransom demands are not met. For Baycoat, the group claims to have 19GB of data, including passports, driver’s licenses, financial and medical information, and confidential contracts. From Ben’s Asphalt, Akira allegedly stole over 100GB of files containing financial audits, payment details, and personal information of employees and customers. The most significant data claim is against Echo, with the group alleging the theft of more than 331GB of essential corporate documents. This data allegedly includes Social Security Numbers, driver’s licenses, financial records, and other detailed personal information.
