Algérie Poste, the national postal service of Algeria, has allegedly been targeted in a significant data breach. On a cybercrime forum, a threat actor claimed to have compromised the state-owned entity, which is responsible for postal and financial services across the North African nation. Given its critical role in the country’s infrastructure, handling mail and managing financial accounts for millions of citizens, this alleged incident poses a serious security concern.
According to the post made on August 19, 2025, the threat actor claims the breach was successful due to “insufficient server monitoring”. The actor alleges to have gained access to user accounts within the ECCP (Electronic Postal Checking Account) system and subsequently leaked a portion of the data online as proof. The shared data appears to contain sensitive user credentials.
