In a recent post on a dark web forum, a threat actor has allegedly claimed to have access to an official email account belonging to the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters (NCCAL) in Kuwait. The post, which was shared on a dark web forum, advertises the sale of this access for $199 USD, allegedly offering potential buyers a range of malicious opportunities.
According to the threat actor, the compromised email account purportedly allows access to law enforcement portals for major platforms such as Meta (Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp). The post further claims that the account could be exploited for various illicit activities, including submitting fraudulent data requests, conducting phishing and ransomware campaigns, retrieving sensitive government correspondence, and even manipulating crypto transactions.
The threat actor also allegedly stated that the email could be used for social engineering attacks, background checks via law enforcement portals, and obtaining hospital records through fabricated legal requests.
