Reports circulating on the dark web allegedly indicate that the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), a prominent professional body for bankers in Nigeria, may have suffered a significant cybersecurity breach. The CIBN plays a crucial role in regulating and developing the banking profession in Nigeria, making any compromise of its systems a serious concern for the nation’s financial stability and the personal data of its members. The alleged breach appears to have originated from a server located in France.
According to the claims, full administrative RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) access to servers associated with cibn.org, including what is described as “portal.cibn.org & others,” is being offered for sale. The compromised system is allegedly running Windows Server 2019.
