DieNet DDoS Attacks Hit Qatar’s MOI, GCO, and IMO Websites

The DieNet hacktivist group claims to have targeted several critical Qatar government websites with distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, rendering them temporarily inaccessible. Emerging in March 2025, DieNet is a hacktivist collective known for leveraging high-volume DDoS-as-a-service tactics. The group frequently targets government entities, critical national infrastructure (CNI), and financial services across the Middle East and Western nations in retaliation for geopolitical events.

The latest list of alleged victims posted by the group includes:

  • Ministry of Interior Qatar (πŸ‡ΆπŸ‡¦): The primary government body responsible for internal security, immigration, traffic, and civil defense services in Qatar.

  • Government Communications Office (πŸ‡ΆπŸ‡¦): Qatar’s strategic communications arm, responsible for supporting both government and semi-government entities.

  • International Media Office (πŸ‡ΆπŸ‡¦): The official organization responsible for presenting Qatar’s foreign policy and global initiatives to the international media.

According to the actor and automated monitoring reports, this incident is a volumetric DDoS attack, meaning there is no evidence of data exfiltration or a traditional breach. The allegedly impacted services include:

  • Complete website uptime and accessibility

  • Unavailability of online citizen portals

  • Severe network connection timeouts
