In a concerning development, the Digital Revolt and the Cyber Dragon groups is purported to have orchestrated a series of disruptive Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks targeting key state websites in North Macedonia. Beyond conventional distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) tactics, the attackers successfully breached the defenses of key state websites, including those responsible for public procurement and the Sistema48 platform. This infiltration has compromised sensitive information and user accounts, exacerbating the already dire situation.
During the initial phase of the assault, critical resources were spared, with the hackers opting to target nearly all public assets of significant importance. The repercussions have reverberated across the economy, resulting in disruptions to airport operations and major state-affiliated corporations.
While the scope of the attack extends to several private enterprises within North Macedonia, the hackers have refrained from inflicting harm upon them thus far, as their involvement in state affairs remains unclear.
