NoName057(16) DDoS Attacks Cyprus Gov, EAC, and Limassol Airport

The NoName057(16) hacktivist group claims to have launched a series of distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks against multiple government, utility, and transportation entities in Cyprus. The group announced the attacks on their Telegram channel.

The latest list of alleged victims posted by the group includes:

  • Office of the Republic of Cyprus (🇨🇾): The official central government portal and administrative web presence for the nation.

  • Limassol Airport Express (🇨🇾): A primary transportation service providing passenger transfers between Limassol and the Larnaca and Paphos airports.

  • Live Buses OSYPA (🇨🇾): The online bus tracking board and transport management system for the Paphos region.

  • Cyprus Electricity Authority (EAC) (🇨🇾): The primary state-owned electric utility company operating in Cyprus.

According to the actor, the attacks were designed to overwhelm the targets’ servers and force them offline. The allegedly impacted services and systems include:

  • Government portal availability and citizen services

  • Airport transfer booking and scheduling platforms

  • Real-time online bus tracking and transit boards

  • Utility customer portals and payment gateways
