Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat Japan Data Breach

The Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS), an international organization established to promote peace, shared culture, and collaborative projects among China, Japan, and South Korea, has allegedly been compromised. The incident involves the organization’s Japanese domain (jp.tcs-asia.org), resulting in the exposure of approximately 468,000 internal records currently being offered for sale on a hacker forum. Notably, the leaked data samples reveal that the compromised accounts include high-ranking Japanese government officials and staff from entities such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the Ministry of the Environment (MOE), and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).

The allegedly compromised data includes:

  • Full names and government email addresses (including sensitive .go.jp domains)

  • Encrypted passwords

  • Job titles and company roles (e.g., Director of East Asia Division, Senior Policy Analyst)

  • Social media profiles (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn)

  • Phone and mobile numbers

  • Support ticket subjects (e.g., summit document requests, policy forum registrations), descriptions, and direct replies

  • User content engagement metrics (views, downloads, shares) and interaction logs

  • Customer IP addresses, browser information, and device types
