A threat actor has accessed data belonging to the global security company Verisure. The breach occurred via an external billing partner and affects customers of Verisure’s “Alert Alarm” brand.
Verisure, a Swedish-founded alarm and security services provider, has reported the incident to Swedish authorities. The police have subsequently launched a preliminary investigation into aggravated data breach and extortion. The company has confirmed the unauthorized access but has not yet publicly named the third-party partner involved.
According to statements from the company, the compromised information is related to “Alert Alarm” customer data that was stored by the external partner. At this time, the specific types of data that were accessed have not been disclosed. Verisure has stated it will inform affected customers as more information becomes available.
