The Black Basta ransomware group has recently added Doyon to its list of victims, a concerning development for the regional Alaska Native corporation for Interior Alaska. Doyon, Limited, operates as a for-profit corporation with over 20,500 shareholders, overseeing a diverse portfolio of companies spanning oil field services, government contracting, utilities, construction, information technology, natural resources development, tourism, and real estate. Notably, Doyon Drilling Inc. (DDI) operates on the North Slope of Alaska with nine specialized oil and gas land drilling rigs, catering to extreme conditions. The group claims to have compromised approximately 700GB of data, including corporate information such as accounting and HR records, as well as personal details of employees. The breach poses a significant threat to Doyon’s operations and underscores the ongoing challenges posed by ransomware attacks.
