Qilin Ransomware Group Allegedly Breaches Morgenstern AG, MARMA Polskie Folie, and Fort Smith School District

Qilin Ransomware Allegedly Targets 11 International Organizations

The Qilin ransomware group has allegedly claimed responsibility for a series of cyberattacks targeting three distinct organizations across Europe and the United States, leading to significant data breaches. The victims, operating in document solutions, industrial manufacturing, and public education, have reportedly had sensitive internal, client, and personal data exfiltrated and exposed. The attacks highlight a troubling trend of targeting critical sectors with wide-ranging impacts on clients, employees, and students.

According to the claims, the threat actors successfully compromised the networks of each organization despite public statements suggesting the situations were contained. In the case of German firm Morgenstern AG, a statement about repelling an attack is allegedly contradicted by the full-scale leak of its own and its clients’ confidential data. Similarly, Polish manufacturer MARMA Polskie Folie’s description of data leak risks as “hypothetical” is reportedly at odds with the exposure of detailed employee records, financial information, and proprietary technical processes. The most alarming alleged breach involves the Fort Smith School District in the US, where the personal files of over 13,000 students, including addresses and family information, have been purportedly compromised.

The alleged victims of the Qilin ransomware group include:

  • 🇩🇪 Morgenstern AG: A German company specializing in comprehensive print and document management solutions, including digital workspace implementation for a wide range of business clients. The breach allegedly exposed the company’s internal financial data and the confidential documents of dozens of its corporate clients.
  • 🇵🇱 MARMA Polskie Folie: One of Europe’s largest plastics processors, manufacturing products for agriculture, construction, and packaging with over 1,000 employees. The alleged leak includes extensive personal data for every employee and client, confidential financial information, and detailed descriptions of proprietary manufacturing technologies.
  • 🇺🇸 Fort Smith School District: A major public school district in Arkansas, USA, serving over 13,000 students across 28 schools. The attack has allegedly resulted in the public release of every student’s personnel file, including academic records, home addresses, and parent information, as well as sensitive financial records detailing sponsor contributions and district expenditures.
