Data Breach KISTI SMART K2C: Allegedly 7.79 Million Users’ Information Exposed

In May 2024, A threat actor has allegedly leaked the database of KISTI SMART K2C, that is operated by the Korean Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI). It is a platform designed to promote collaboration and information sharing among organizations involved in science and technology in Korea. This attack resulting in the exposure of sensitive information belonging to approximately 7.79 million users. The compromised data includes registration numbers, full names, physical locations, dates, and role holder categories. This breach not only jeopardizes the privacy and security of the affected users but also underscores the urgent need for robust cybersecurity protocols to prevent such incidents in the future.
